Over the years, I’ve integrated therapeutic writing into my clinical practice—and time and again, I’ve seen its transformative power. Research shows that writing can offer healing in ways other modalities sometimes can’t. For those who process feelings and experiences through writing, it can be especially powerful.
I created the Writing Group for Psychotherapists to bring that same opportunity to therapists. This group is a space to pause, reflect, and process the emotional labor of being a therapist—especially during this unique and challenging time in our profession. The stories we hold, the intensity of our work, and the emotional residue it leaves all deserve space and attention.
These sessions are designed to support you through guided writing exercises focused on your clinical experience. You’ll have time to write, share (if you choose), and connect—with yourself, with your work, and with fellow therapists. For groups larger than seven, we’ll include one breakout session for smaller conversations, as well as time for group discussion.
If you usually write on a computer, I invite you to try pen and paper for our exercises—but above all, do what feels most comfortable. The intention is simple: to give your inner world room to emerge through writing.
